Steps To Make Minecraft Turtle Helmets
1. Open Your Crafting Menu
To craft a turtle shell that you can wear as a helmet, you first need to open your crafting menu in Minecraft. You should see the same grid as in the image below.
2. Add the Scutes to Make a Turtle Helmet
In the crafting table, add the scutes to the grid.
You must add the scutes to the grid exactly as shown in the image below. Simply place down 3 scutes in the 1st row (one in each box) and 2 scutes in the 2nd row (leave the middlebox empty). This is the Minecraft turtle shell recipe.
After you've added the items to the crafting grid as described above, you'll notice a turtle shell in the box on the right.
3. Move The Turtle Shell To Your Inventory
Now, simply drag the turtle shell down to your inventory so you can use it.
You're done! You now have a turtle Shell! Now just put the shell into the top armor slot of your inventory to make it a turtle helmet!
This will give you the water breathing status effect for 10 seconds. It also provides the player with 2 defense points, similar to the golden, chainmail, and iron helmets.
