Required To Breed Cows
- 2 Cows
- 2 Wheat
Steps To Breed Cows
1. Find Two Cows To Breed
We first need to find two cows to start the breeding process. If you're having trouble finding cows you can summon them with a cheat or use a spawn egg.

We need the cows to remain close to each other, so it's a good idea to build a fence around them.
2. Feed The Cows Wheat
Next, with the cows in close proximity to each other, we need to feed each cow wheat. Select the wheat in your Hotbar and feed each cow separately using the following game controls:
- Java Edition (PC/Mac), Windows 10 Edition, Education Edition: right click on the cow.
- Pocket Edition (PE): tap on the cow.
- Xbox 360, Xbox One: press the LT button.
- PS3, PS4: press the L2 button.
- Wii U, Nintendo Switch: press the ZL button
After feeding the cows the wheat, you'll notice red hearts appear. This signifies that the cows are entering love mode.

Once the red hearts disappear, a baby cow (calf) will appear. It typically takes about 20 minutes for the baby cow to become an adult. However, you can speed up that process by feeding the calf wheat.
And you must wait 5 minutes before your cows will be able to breed again.

That's how to breed cows in Minecraft! Minecraft cows are a passive mob that is a source of leather, milk, and raw beef.
