- 2 Sheep
- 2 Wheat
Steps To Breed Sheep
1. Find Two Sheep To Breed
We first need to find two sheep to start the breeding process. If you're having trouble finding sheep you can summon them with a cheat or use a spawn egg.

We need the sheep to remain close to each other, so it's a good idea to fence them in.
2. Feed The Sheep Wheat
Next, with the sheep next to each other, we need to feed each sheep wheat. Select the wheat in your Hotbar and feed each sheep separately using the following game controls:
- Java Edition (PC/Mac), Windows 10 Edition, Education Edition: right click on the sheep.
- Pocket Edition (PE): tap on the sheep.
- Xbox 360, Xbox One: press the LT button.
- PS3, PS4: press the L2 button.
- Wii U, Nintendo Switch: press the ZL button
After feeding the sheep the wheat, you'll notice red hearts appear. This signifies that the sheep are entering love mode.

Once the red hearts disappear, a baby sheep (lamb) will appear. You'll notice the baby sheep is the same color as the parents, however, if the parents are different but compatible colors, the baby will be a combination of the two. For example, red sheep and yellow sheep will create orange baby sheep (JAVA edition only).
It typically takes about 20 minutes for the baby sheep to become an adult sheep. However, you can speed up that process by feeding the lamb wheat.
And you must wait 5 minutes before your adult sheep will be able to breed again.

That's how to breed sheep in Minecraft! Minecraft sheep are a passive mob that is a source of wool and mutton.
