Steps To Tame And Ride A Horse

1. Find A Horse

Find a minecraft horse

You first need to find a horse. They are commonly found in the Minecraft plains biome. If you can't find one you can summon a horse or use a horse spawn egg.

2. Tame The Horse

Once you've found a horse, you can tame it by repeatedly mounting it. Mount a horse using:

  • Java Edition (PC/Mac), Windows 10 Edition, Education Edition: right click on the horse.
  • Pocket Edition (PE): move your pointer over the horse and press the Mount button.
  • Xbox 360, Xbox One: press the LT button
  • PS3, PS4: press the L2 button
  • Wii U, Nintendo Switch: press the ZL button

The horse will repeatedly buck you off, so you'll need to keep trying to mount it. The time it takes when taming a horse in Minecraft varies: sometimes you'll have to mount it multiple times, other times you'll only have to mount it once.

When the horse is finally tamed, you'll notice hearts appear around it and it will no longer throw you off.
