Growing Cocoa Beans In Minecraft
1. Place Down The Jungle Wood Blocks
To begin cocoa bean farming, we need to place down our jungle wood blocks. You can place down as many as you want. In our example, we are going to place down 16 blocks (8 long by 2 high)

2. Plant Your Cocoa Beans
Next, select your cocoa beans in your Hotbar and plant them on the side of the jungle wood blocks. You can plant your beans by using the following controls on your game controller:
- Java Edition (PC/Mac), Windows 10 Edition, Education Edition: right-click on the block.
- Pocket Edition (PE): tap on the block.
- Xbox 360, Xbox One: press the LT button.
- PS3, PS4: press the L2 button.
- Wii U, Nintendo Switch: press the ZL button.

After you have planted your cocoa beans, you'll notice green cocoa pods on the side of the jungle wood blocks.
3. Fertilize The Cocoa Pods
Your cocoa bean pods will slowly sprout in time. They will go through 3 stages of growth (the first stage the pod is small and green, the second stage it is bigger and colored tan, the third stage the pod is bigger yet and orange-brown). However, we can speed up their growth by fertilizing the pods with bonemeal.
So, select bonemeal in your Hotbar and use the following game controls to fertilize your pods:
- Java Edition (PC/Mac), Windows 10 Edition, Education Edition: right-click on the plant.
- Pocket Edition (PE): tap on the plant.
- Xbox 360, Xbox One: press the LT button.
- PS3, PS4: press the L2 button.
- Wii U, Nintendo Switch: press the ZL button.

As you use the bonemeal, you'll notice the pods sprout and change from green to orange/brown. Once your cocoa bean farm is fully-grown, we can harvest them.
4. Harvest The Cocoa Beans
Lastly, we will want to harvest the crop. To do this, you simply break the pods using the following controls on your game controller:
- Java Edition (PC/Mac), Windows 10 Edition, Education Edition: left-click on the plant.
- Pocket Edition (PE): tap on the plant and hold.
- Xbox 360, Xbox One: press the RT button.
- PS3, PS4: press the R2 button.
- Wii U, Nintendo Switch: press the ZR button.
After you break the pod you'll notice 3 cocoa beans. Be sure to pick the cocoa beans up before they disappear.
