Items Needed To Make A Compass

• 4 iron ingots
• 1 redstone dust

Steps To Make A Minecraft Compass

1. Open Your Crafting Menu

To craft a compass, you first need to open your crafting menu in Minecraft. You should see the same grid as in the image below.

2. Add The Iron Ingots And Redstone Dust To The Menu

In the crafting menu, add the 4 iron ingots and 1 redstone dust to the grid.

You must add both of the iron ingots and redstone to the grid exactly as shown in the image below.  In the 1st row place 1 iron ingot in the middle box. In the 2nd row place 1 iron ingot in the 1st box, 1 redstone in the 2nd box, and 1 iron ingot in the 3rd box. In the 3rd row place 1 iron ingot in the middle box. This is the Minecraft compass recipe.

After you've added the items to the crafting grid as described above, you'll notice a compass in the box on the right.

3. Move The Compass To Your Inventory

Now, simply drag the compass down to your inventory so you can use it.

Woohoo, you have a compass! You can use your Minecraft compass to help lead you back to your spawn point. It can also be used to make a map in Minecraft.

To run the compass command in Minecraft, open your chat window and enter the command below depending on the version you have.
